Is this a ploy to drum up something newsworthy in an otherwise sluggish season? The Kashrus stirrers seem to be like the Boy Who cried Wolf.
Magrover Rav is behind all this.

Badatz of C.H. - Strawberries Forbidden
In a letter that was put out by Harav Ahron Yaakov Shvei the Mara Deasra of Crown Heights, he writes that it is well a well known fact that fresh strawberries are infested with insects, and therefore must be throughly examined through a sophisticated checking process, as insects are not easily detected by the average person.
However, just recently there have been warnings issued by many of the various Kashrus organizations, which are under the strict Rabbinical supervision of G-d fearing Rabbonim, who have researched the matter in its entirety with the assistance of experts and have concluded that the checking of strawberries through peeling and washing, as has been done in the past, is insufficient, as it does not remove all the insects.
