Jewish Cemeteries, Abandoned in Austria, Get 20 Million Euros
Jump to Comments
“There are seven Jewish cemeteries in Vienna and 28 in Upper Austria, according to the Kultusgemeinde, the country’s biggest Jewish organization. The funding will initially restore 20 rundown cemeteries across the country, including those in Vienna’s Wahringer district and in the town of Deutsche Wagram, 23 kilometers (14 miles) northeast of the capital. The cemeteries hold the remains of Austrian luminaries dating from the 18th century and reflect the prominence of Jewish thinkers, actors, bankers and patrons.” more@Bloomberg.com
