The Toldos Avraham Yitzchak Reality
“As Rabbi Weinberger explains it—yes, the Toldos Avraham Yitzchak sect does not participate in government funded programs and does not accept subsidies from the state insurance funds for healthcare in Israel. Granted it may be an archaic approach but this is the tradition that has been handed down from generation to generation. According to our Israel correspondent Samuel Sokol, the Rebbe “is not militant and does not support violence” as was witnessed in Jerusalem over the summer in a controversy over the opening of a parking lot on Shabbos. Sokol tells us: “I’ve heard good things about the Rebbe, though they have some odd ways about them.” He adds that the Rebbe’s followers are known as kanoyim and that the Chassidim have to sign contracts in order to remain in good standing within the sect.” more@5tjt.com
