“Tthe ‘birth certificate’ of the American city of New York, is displayed in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam on March 30, 2009 for the exhibition called ‘Reunion with Manhattan - 400 years Henry Hudson’ which celebrates the discovery of Manhattan 400 years ago by explorer Henry Hudson who sailed for the Dutch East India Company, to find new trade routes to Asia. The exhibition will start April 2nd in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. In a letter in 1626, Dutch Pieter Janszoon Schagen of the West-Indian Company writes he has bought Manhattan from the Canarsie-indian for 60 Dutch guilders. “DayLife.com
